Advancing the Profession and the Future Professional

The Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) is the foremost organization for students interested in public relations and communications. We seek to advance the public relations profession by nurturing generations of future professionals. We advocate rigorous academic standards for public relations education, the highest ethical principles and diversity in the profession.

Public relations (PR), as defined by PRSA, functions to “help an organization and its publics adapt mutually to each other.” As a management function, it includes anticipating, analyzing and interpreting public opinion; counseling management; developing programs that inform public understanding; and planning and implementing an organization’s efforts to influence or change public policy.
